Synopsis

Era milenium ini, setiap hari bahkan setiap saat, kita disajikan berbagai macam iklan atau upaya pemasaran berbagai macam produk dan jasa. Iklan-iklan dengan gencarnya menyapa kita melalui berbagai media, terutama TV dan radio. Melalui internet, iklan-iklan itu juga datang silih berganti. Iklan juga menyergap kita melalui telepon seluler, YouTube, WhatsApp, dan semisalnya. Iklan-iklan juga mejeng secara mentereng melalui billboard, spanduk, umbul-umbul, dll. Belum lagi iklan melalui selebaran yang secara berdesakan nongol di tembok-tembok, tiang listrik/telepon, pagar rumah, dll. Ada juga iklan yang disamarkan melalui tulisan ilmiah atau tulisan populer. Jangan dilupakan iklan atau pemasaran produk atau jasa yang dikemas secara sangat professional dalam bentuk pameran, seminar atau pertemuan. Belum lagi iklan atau upaya pemasaran yang dilakukan secara agresif melalui tatap mula langsung dari rumah ke rumah dan secara berantai (multy level marketing). Demikian pula upaya yang dilakukan melalui loby kepada berbagai pihak, khususnya pengambil kebijakan, agar produk atau jasanya dapat dipergunakan oleh khalayak luas. Dan masih banyak lagi cara-cara kreatif yang dilakukan dalam rangka menjajakan suatu produk atau jasa. Upaya-upaya itu mempunyai pengaruh yang sangat besar terhadap lakunya suatu produk atau jasa. Produk atau jasa apa saja, termasuk produk atau jasa di bidang kesehatan serta produk dan jasa yang merugikan kesehatan seperti rokok, minuman keras, obat-obatan yang tidak layak, dll. Itu semua termasuk upaya pemasaran atau upaya untuk mempromosikan produk atau jasa. Jika konteksnya pada zaman dulu, maka upaya itu disebut propaganda.
